Position Description

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be at least 21 years of age. 2. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 3. Must be currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Mississippi. 4. Prefer one year experience working with individuals with mental retardation. 5. Must have reliable transportation and meet applicable requirements for Millcreek’s Motor Vehicle Safety Program. 6. Must complete the HCBS training and continued education program.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and feedback to staff regarding the individual’s medication.
  • Provide direct care through utilization of nursing standards accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and medical/lab protocol for nursing care.
  • Implement infection control measures according to facility policies and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Report pertinent information and/or changes in the individuals' condition to nurse supervisor and/or Program Director.
  • Provide individual, staff, and family education as related to medication, illness, etc.
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Chart medication administration in nurse's notes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Document nursing care provided, maintain appropriate records related to individuals' progress and activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all HCBS ID/DD waiver program policies and procedures.
  • Provide care and/or conduct individual interactions in an age/cultural appropriate manner.
  • Provide and document training to staff regarding the appropriate monitoring and documentation of individual’s self-administration of medication.
  • Follows all safety policies and adheres to all worker's compensation program guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
